The handling device for rectifying the track gauge MPR 50 kN (hereinafter referred to as the device) is used to adjust the gauge of wide-base and grooved rails before fastening them to the base (sleepers, etc.).
The basic part of the device is a special comb jack with a lifting capacity of 5 tons. The fixed and movable parts are extended and fitted with two heads, which are placed on the rail heads during their rectification. The usual one-sided retaining mechanism is replaced by a double-sided mechanism in the device. The fixed control crank is placed on the square of the crank pinion. A lever with a locking pin is used to change the direction of rotation. Two springs, one of which is always tensioned and the other is free, hold the latch in the teeth of the ratchet and thus secure the position of the control crank.
One head is provided with a lining on all sides (see the image in the cutout), which insulates this device against the passing electric current when the rail strips are interconnected.
